Happy Model-Testing Weekend to All Who Celebrate

A few years ago, we got excited about new iPhone releases and new versions of iOS or macOS.

We would watch the keynote, compare the cameras, and briefly convince ourselves that titanium would change our lives, or that a new emoji was all the justification we needed to update our operating system.

Now, all the excitement is about the latest models from the frontier labs.

OpenAI releases three models, Luna, Terra, and Sol, and suddenly our weekend plans change.

How many of us are about to spend the weekend learning the nuances between them, comparing them with Grok 4.5, and, for those with access, putting Fable 5 through its paces?

We used to debate screen sizes, battery life, and camera sensors.

Now it’s reasoning styles, tool use, context windows, and which model is inexplicably brilliant at one task but completely confused by another.

The new unboxing video is an evaluation spreadsheet.

The new camera test is that prompt you’ve been saving for the next frontier model.

And “just one more test” still somehow means staying up past midnight.

Honestly, I love it!

Every new model gives us a new set of edges to explore: where it surprises us, where it struggles, and what it suddenly makes possible.
