October, Tallied
An October tally of professional and personal work with Codex, from projects and production releases to tokens and new possibilities.

As October comes to an end, I gave OpenAI Codex one more task: help me count everything we’d worked on together. With the work spread across personal and corporate GitHub accounts and several computers, even answering “What did we do this month?” took a little digging.
The tally includes at least two dozen projects, counting maintenance and security updates. For my work, we used Codex on presentations, evaluation tools, algorithm development for recommendations, content classification, researching frontier tools for content discovery, interactive demos and visualizations to explain how algorithms behave, technical documentation, and product strategy and planning.
On the personal side, there was Pac-Man and Tetris, my website and its avatars, and family websites. A lot of attention also went into Tom and Infinite Queue, the loop system and tools I’m using to coordinate the agents and their tasks.
Across the repositories I could audit, October’s Git history records 1,709 commits, with about 760,000 source-code lines added and 50,000 removed, including tests and saved experimental versions. I opened 535 pull requests, and 477 of my pull requests were merged during the month. Netlify recorded 288 successful production deployments.
The October Codex logs I could recover on one Mac show 26.4 billion input tokens and 59.2 million output tokens. Nearly 99% of the recorded input was cached context being reused as the work continued. That’s a partial count, and it’s only on one computer.
It was a productive month, and I’m having fun learning how much I can do with these tools. They’re opening up new ways to approach my work and giving me room to experiment with ideas of my own. I’m excited to see what we can do in November.
