What else are you working on?

A surprising moment watching AI agents coordinate their own coding work.

I literally just asked my dots agent:

“Explain to me why there are some open tasks that you are running. What else are you working on?”

I’ve noticed something funny happening with my Codex tasks lately.

I’ll be running a few tasks and monitoring their progress when a new message appears. I didn’t ask for it. One Codex task has decided to coordinate with another.

Then I started noticing new tasks showing up that had been initiated by my dots agent. I didn’t remember asking it to start them.

I actually think this is great. The agent is being proactive and helping coordinate work that needs coordination.

But I do find it a little surreal. Somewhere in my computer, my agents are talking to one another about coding tasks while I’m trying to figure out who started what.

We really are living in a science fiction novel. I just didn’t expect my role in it to involve asking the robots for a status update.
