Catching Up With the Night Shift
By Cristiano Pierry
My morning catch-up now includes AI agents that worked overnight across different systems, and I am figuring out the handover.

Until recently, waking up meant catching up on emails from colleagues in other time zones. They had been working while I slept, and the morning started with finding out what had happened.
Now I find myself doing a similar round of check-ins with AI agents. They’ve been operating overnight across different systems, and I wake up to see how far they got.
It’s a strange adjustment. I can leave work underway and go to bed, then come back to progress I didn’t have to stay awake for. I still need to understand where each task stands, though. Did it finish? Does something need my attention before it can continue?
I’d like a clear picture of the night’s work without having to visit every system where I left an agent running. As more work happens while I’m asleep, a good morning handover starts to feel like a useful thing to build.
Apparently, I have a night shift now. I’m still figuring out how to catch up with it.
